And his song is in my soul.

And his song is in my soul.
And speaking of Garth Brooks, the mega-star has canceled television appearances on The View and Ellen in support of the Writers’ Guild of America. Says his publicist:
This is the first time in many years that he has not done television in support of his music. His first appearance on television was to have been The Tonight Show, however the strike happened that day. We believe he is the first artist with product in the marketplace to not have the support of these appearances. Garth is proud of the position he has taken since he hopes to be a writer in the not too distant future.
Way to go Garth! [via Country Standard Time]
Like Britney Spears and The Dude, Garth Brooks must hate the f***ing Eagles these days. The Eagles’ Long Road Out of Eden sold 359, 000 copies in its second week of sales, edging out Garth Brooks’ The Ultimate Hits which sold 352,000 copies in its first week in sales. The Ultimate Hits includes 34 songs (only 4 new) and 33 music videos, as opposed to Long Road Out of Eden which contains two CDs of all new material.

As you may have guessed with the new URL, header and MySpace account, CGCG is growing. The site just celebrated 30,000 hits (w00t! — okay so Perez Hilton garners 4.5 million hits a day, but then again I don’t draw boogers on Carrie Underwood’s face) and it’s time to upgrade! Check back for new features! Thanks for reading!

Governor Eliot Spitzer may allow New York scalping laws that he believes “don’t work” to expire in June, favoring a system of sanctioned resellers. Theater owners — previously staunch defenders of scalping laws — have suddenly changed their tune:
“We believe that ticket prices would probably not skyrocket if the cap placed on the resale of tickets were to be lifted,” Gerald Schoenfeld, chairman of the League of American Theatres & Producers, wrote in a recent letter to state officials obtained by The Post.
“An increase in the number of legal resellers (who comply with licensing and other regulations) will increase legal competition in the marketplace and drive prices down,” Schoenfeld wrote.
Down? I’m no economist, but how could the ticket prices be driven below the retail price at which the scalpers purchase tickets? I know this policy may work for other states, but in New York — where theaters are small, fans are plentiful and industry-types fill the seats before anyone else gets a chance — will this system benefit the regular fan at all? Hey Folks, I’ll be out of the country this week so no posting. Read the sites on the blogroll and enjoy March Madness!

According to GAC, Oprah’s Oprah, Maya Angelou, loves the music of Montgomery Gentry.
Dr. Maya Angelou was so moved by Montgomery Gentry’s song and video, “Some People Change,” that she invited them on her “Oprah & Friends” radio show yesterday to talk about it. Dr. Angelou said she loves Montgomery Gentry’s music because of the heart she hears in it.
Though both Dr. Angelou and Montgomery Gentry have an interest in caged animals, I have to say I’m surprised at this match-up.
The two major satellite radio companies, SIRIUS and XM, have at last agreed to merge according to USA Today. SIRIUS currently has five country stations; XM has eight (including bluegrass and Americana stations). I’m curious to see how the country line-ups will be shaken up (assuming the FCC doesn’t put the kabosh on the whole affair).
